Our Story

Scattered Bean Coffee Co. was founded by coffee connoisseur Shelly Griffin in 2015. The company is headquartered at Griffin’s Windy Acres Farm in beautiful Hancock County in the heart of rural Indiana. Her philosophy is simple: “I believe every small town should have an authentic, welcoming coffee shop where locals can gather over steaming cups of fresh roasted coffee – then scatter and improve their community,” Shelly explains. “That’s why my dream is to one day open that coffee shop.”

Scattered Bean is the first step toward realizing that dream. The name ‘Scattered Bean’ originated from Griffin’s professional roasting method. “We use a fluid bed coffee roaster,” she says. “And sometimes the beans make a break for it!”
